My name is Rekha. I am by qualification an architect but I like to think of myself as a reluctant one – you’ll find out why soon enough. I am at heart a writer and an artist. I disconcertingly show traits that fit pretty perfectly for a Sagittarius. Let’s break it down – the persistent traits: footloose and fancy free (check), tactless (check), loyal (check), optimistic (check), a wanderer, i.e. massive itchy feet (CHECK).
I place myself in no other category, not of my ethnicity or gender or body type or whatever new box they’re shoving people into nowadays. That last bit, about the wandering, I’ve got it bad I tell ya! Hence the name of the blog: Fernweh! (It is such a wonderful word, isn’t it? Thank you, Germany.) Because no matter what other really fun things I’m made up of, I have a desire need to travel. Once I am in one place for more than a year, the itching starts, I have to move. I’ve been living away from home since I was 14, first boarding school, then college, and then work. You would assume that being away so much would have given me homesickness but no, I have that rare affliction of farsickness.
